For Love Love of Figs

At the end of my sunrise walk I am greeted by what I call “For the Love of Figs”. A fig tree growing and living within a ditch at the very end of the trail I walk each day. When I first saw it, I immediately paused to confirm it was truly a fig tree. Then I found myself mesmerized because I absolutely love figs, and to see one living under those conditions felt like witnessing something sad but at the same time beautiful.

As I contemplated it, I wondered how it was possible for a fig tree to be bearing fruit there. Every day I greet it and wonder what it must be like to flourish no matter the conditions, to simply find a way. There is something deeply moving about watching it continue to grow where most things would struggle. It does not wait for the perfect environment. It simply continues reaching toward the light, quietly bearing fruit exactly where it is.

As I reflect on this, it brings me to a deeper understanding that we can thrive no matter where we land. There are circumstances beyond what our intellectual mind can fully comprehend, yet the soul knows the truth. Perhaps that is what this fig tree reminds me of each morning. That life finds a way beyond logic, beyond perfect conditions, beyond what appears possible from the outside. Something deeper within us understands how to keep growing, how to keep reaching toward the light, and how to continue bearing fruit even in unexpected places.

I am reminded that there is often more happening beneath the surface than we can see. What appears difficult or limiting on the outside does not always define what is possible within. Sometimes life simply finds a way to live beautifully.

Until we meet again, may this bring a smile to your heart.

With love from France,
Jubetsy
